Would you like to enhance your major with an understanding of the history of art or curatorial practices of museums? The minor in art history can provide insight into these cultural fields.
The art history minor is designed for students who are interested in a broad introduction to the study of the history of art. In giving substantial chronological exposure to the history of art from diverse cultures, the minor program strengthens academic preparation and provides students with many options to select courses based on their individual interests.
A minor in art history, especially in conjunction with a major in another field, enhances opportunities for future graduate study.
All students are required to meet general university admission requirements:
Find and apply for relevant scholarships.
ASU has many financial aid options. Almost everyone, regardless of income, can qualify for some form of financial aid. In fact, more than 70 percent of all ASU students receive some form of financial assistance every year.
GPA Requirement: 2.00
Incompatible Majors: BA in art (art history)
Other Enrollment Requirements: None
Current ASU undergraduate students may pursue a minor and have it recognized on their ASU transcript at graduation. Students interested in pursuing a minor should consult their academic advisor to declare the minor and to ensure that an appropriate set of courses is taken. Minor requirements appear on the degree audit once the minor is added. Certain major and minor combinations may be deemed inappropriate by the college or department of either the major program or the minor. Courses taken for the minor may not count toward both the major and the minor. Students should contact their academic advisor for more information.
