Summer Session Instructor in Art
School of Art
The Art Program on the Tempe and Online campus at Arizona State University invites applications for Session Instructor to teach undergraduate courses online and/or on-campus in: Studio Art including Animation, Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and/or Sculpture.
These positions are one semester appointments, part time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Session Instructor course load is one to two classes per semester. Teaching duties include: preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and availability for one-on-one assistance (via weekly office hours for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes).
The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Individuals hired as Session Instructors may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.
Anticipated start date is: Summer 2026, session A, B and/or C

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 4 years of industry experience or a Master’s degree in relevant field, by time of appointment and 2 years of industry experience
- Evidence of effective teaching
Desired qualifications:
- MFA or Ph.D. in relevant field by time of appointment
- Record of scholarly publication and/or evidence of professional development in relevant field
- Minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience
