Betsy Fahlman is a professor of art history at Arizona State University, where she has taught since 1988. She did her undergraduate work at Mount Holyoke College, and graduate work at the University of Delaware, where she earned her master's and doctoral degrees. A specialist in American Art, her interests include public art, American modernism, the New Deal, industrial archeology and the art history of Arizona. Her books include "Kraushaar Galleries: Celebrating 125 Years" (2010), "New Deal Art in Arizona" (2009), "Wonders of Work and Labor: The Steidle Collection of American Industrial Art" (2008), "James Graham & Sons: A Century and a Half in the Art Business" (2007), "Chimneys and Towers: Charles Demuths Late Paintings of Lancaster" (2007) and "Guy P�ne du Bois: Painter of Modern Life" (2004).
A specialisrt in Euro-North American art history, Professor Fahlman's research spans the late nineteenth century to 1945. She has strong interests in women artists, American modernism (including the history of photography), the relationships between American Art and industry, and the art history of the American Southwest (including Arizona).

Professor Fahlman teaches ARS 250: History of Photography, ARS 340: Art in America, ARS 485/585: Women in the Visual Arts, and ARS 456.598: Introduction to Museums. She has taught semninars on Public Art, the New Deal, and The New Woman Artist: Gender and Modernity, 1900-1945. She also runs an art history internship program.
