Explore visual storytelling through animation filmmaking and the realm of expanded animation using emerging technologies.
The animation program at the School of Art in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts is designed around a fine arts foundation with core animation classes in 2D, 3D and experimental techniques and principles. The flexible program draws on the other area strengths within the School of Art, allowing exploration in traditional hand-drawn, digital 2D and 3D production pipelines and stop-motion animation, as well as in emerging technology and special effects. Additionally, students have access to diverse courses offered at the Media and Immersive eXperience Center (MIX) within the Herberger Institute, which expands our curriculum effectively. Faculty members are dedicated to supporting a wide range of career goals, from commercial aspirations to the creation of conceptual independent artist animation films.
