A degree in Ceramics

"Bleached," Brandi Lee Cooper, MFA 2019.

Explore the rich global history of traditional ceramic techniques and a range of innovative contemporary applications

Students earning their degree in ceramics learn a range of techniques and concepts that enable them to develop their own style. The curriculum is designed to engage students with traditional and innovative materials and processes, historical and contemporary practices, theory and discourse, and to expose students to a range of research topics relevant to issues facing our society today. Students have the opportunity to hone their craft in a particular area or experiment by blending various art practices across disciplines. Faculty mentor students on their professional careers and organize national and international professional development opportunities for students to work with local materials, learn new techniques, engage other cultures and visit ceramic factories, museums, and cultural and historical sites.
