A Degree in Fashion

The BA in Fashion at Arizona State University is a trans-disciplinary program that provides a foundation for working across many segments of the fashion industry. The new fashion program at ASU combines history, business practices and hands-on studio experience to prepare students for a variety of roles in this important industry. Among them are fashion designers, merchandise display and window designers, textile, and apparel production management, fabric designers, marketing researchers and other fashion business analysts, supply chain managers for the apparel industry, fashion critics and curators and many other related positions. This program is distinguished from other fashion programs in the U.S. through its integration with other research disciplines in the university. Gaining a proficiency in illustration skills, fluency with materials, traditional techniques and digital technologies, students are prepared for interdisciplinary collaborations through focus tracks. A unique liaison with Phoenix Art Museum's fashion design department provides unparalleled experiences with professional practitioners and the Museum's rich fashion archive. Interested in joining this program? We are accepting applications for BA in Fashion now!

The program is headed by Dennita Sewell, curator of fashion design at Phoenix Art Museum, which has one of the premier collections of fashion in the country with more than 7,000 pieces dating from the 18th century to the present. Students will not only have access to this collection, but also the museum's active program of lectures by fashion industry professionals.

"Fashion is a $1.2 billion global industry, and the number of fashion professionals has grown more than 50 percent in the past 10 years. We are eager to prepare students for this growing part of our economy.”  Dean Steven Tepper
