Sarah Thornton is a writer and sociologist of culture. She has authored articles and books about dance clubs, raves, cultural hierarchies and subcultures. She now writes principally about art, artists and the art market. Sarah Thornton’s Seven Days in the Art World is a funny series of non-fiction narratives, which reveal the inner workings of art institutions that contribute to an artist’s place in art history. The book is an international hit, available in fifteen translations. Thornton has written regularly for The Economist and other publications. She is currently writing a new book, titled 33 Artists in 3 Acts, which will be published in fall 2014.
