NEXT EVENT: Monday October 15
7 p.m.-12 a.m.

multIdentity

Opening reception to be held on Oct. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m.

An intermedia exhibition of video, photography and digital illustration, multIdentity explores the complex and multiplicitous nature of the formation and performance of identity. The selected pieces reference the relationship between a sense of self and visual expression, experimenting with the potential for art as a tool of communication in discussing the presentation and perception of oneself and those around us. In addition to the self, multIdentity examines the formation of communities around a shared identity, as well as the challenges faced when pressure is placed on such bonds.

Yongjin Liu creates art videos about normal life issues, combining abstract concepts and hidden clues. Nathaniel Doyle primarily uses pencils, but occasionally forays into video and performance work. He's a reproducer and freehander. Kourtney Finger specializes in drawing and illustrative work, with a thematic focus on the (mis)representation of countercultures as well as groups and imagery that has been othered as outside of the pop-cultural norm.
