FacultyThe five faculty and one instructional staff member of the printmaking area in the ASU Herberger College School of Art offer expertise in nearly all graphic media, including specialties seldom found at other programs. The faculty provide a deep knowledge of lithography and its rich traditional connections to drawing and painting plus the extension of those skills into the graphic possibilities of monotype. They offer the full spectrum of traditional intaglio, including etching, engraving, aquatint and mezzotint, enhanced by newer, safer methods including polymer plate intaglio. Furthermore, they offer digital media and applications to all photo-mechanical printmaking methods as well as digital capture and output, water-based screenprint in its many iterations with photo and digital methods plus extensions into ceramics and other surfaces and relief printmaking in standard materials plus polymer and digital routing. The letterpress and book arts specialties offer graphic choices found in few universities and hand papermaking provides printmakers with additional sources, resources and creative paths. Print-and-photo crossover media like photogravure and collotype are taught and explored like nowhere else.
