About

The nationally-recognized reputation of the printmaking program in the ASU Herberger College School of Art benefits both graduate and undergraduate students. The graduate printmaking program is currently ranked 3rd in the country by U.S. News and World Report. This full-offering printmaking program includes all the traditional forms of printmaking, including lithography, intaglio, relief and screenprinting, and also boasts several unique study options for both undergraduate and graduate students — photogravure, collotype, book arts, papermaking and digital processes for printmaking. Book arts within the program is nationally known and home to the respected Pyracantha Press.

The printmaking program encourages experimentation and the development of conceptual approaches ranging from traditional techniques to alternative media and non-traditional formats. Interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged and students often work with other areas in and outside the School of Art, particularly photography, intermedia, AME and creative writing.

Printmaking graduates teach in high schools, colleges and universities, direct and assist fine art publishing presses, and administer art programs throughout North America. Former students continue to be productive artists, exhibiting nationally and internationally, publishing award-winning books, and influencing the progression of design and publishing.
