Nathan Cummings Graduate Summer Travel Fellowship

Competition Application

Application Procedure and Sequence

  • If an eligible candidate, you may submit one work. Eligibility: Regular status MFA candidates who have successfully completed their 15-hour review, and have at least one more semester remaining in the ASU Herberger Institute School of Art are eligible to apply.
  • A completed application form, statement and vitae must be submitted to the Harry Wood Gallery director by 5 p.m. on the Thursday before Spring Break. Any applications received after the deadline will not be accepted. Applications may be submitted online (statements and/or vitae may be e-mailed directly to hwood.gal@asu.edu) or left in the gallery director's mailbox.
  • Slides, photographs or drawings of the work entered may be included with the application if you feel the samples will aid installation. Otherwise specific installation requirements may be written. Slides or photographs are not required.
  • Deliver your piece, complete and with all necessary cords, hanging apparatus, etc., on the Friday before Spring Break at 5 p.m. Be available to stay and install your work unless you are happy with the gallery class installing the work. The installation will be completed on Friday evening. You will not be allowed to work on your installation over the weekend.
  • The exhibition opens the Monday of Spring Break at 9 a.m. and closes the Friday after Spring Break at 3 p.m. Work should be picked up between 3-4 p.m.
  • It is understood that space limitations in the Harry Wood Gallery dictate size and number of works exhibited. You should be aware that in the case of space problems the largest pieces or installations would most likely be the first turned away.
  • The awards will be announced the Friday after Spring Break at noon in the Harry Wood Gallery.
