Drawing & Painting

Painting and drawing is the largest studio program in the ASU Herberger College School of Art, with eight faculty members and its own visiting artist program. The program provides a comprehensive education that fosters innovation and sustains tradition. The diversity and plurality of contemporary painting and drawing are reflected in the media and content of the faculty's work.

The painting and drawing program prides itself on the depth and breadth of its curriculum. Students develop formal, conceptual and technical knowledge through studio work in traditional and non-traditional media. Each area of the program has a dedicated studio: painting, drawing, watermedia, life drawing and figure painting. These studios house a community of artists passionately involved in the disciplines of painting and drawing. The Martin Wong Studio provides a communal meeting place for critiques, seminars, visiting artist presentations and exhibitions of work from our BFA program.
