Welcome

World-renowned ceramics faculty in the ASU Herberger Institute School of Art ensures students learn a range of techniques and concepts that enable them to develop their own style and specialty. Guest artists from many countries, including Australia, China, Thailand and Turkey, further enhance the learning experience.

Students have access to the internationally recognized ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center, a teaching and research component of the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. It houses the museum's collection of more than 3,000 ceramics — most in open storage. It also contains the Susan Harnly Peterson Archive and provides unparalleled opportunities to study and research ceramics.

In addition to exhibiting in the school's galleries, students exhibit their artwork at local and national venues, including the National Council for Education of Ceramic Arts and Sculpture, Objects, Functional Art conferences, as well as the California Conference for the Advancement of the Ceramic Arts.
