Programs: Art Studies

The art studies concentration in the ASU Herberger College School of Art is the only concentration that you may apply directly from high school.  The art studies program is only available to undergraduate students. While the BA in art studies includes the normal 18 semester hours of foundation requirements and 12 semester hours in studio art, it is not a studio major in the same way the BFA concentrations are.  Rather, art studies includes study in performing arts and history of performance as well as related studies in such fields as African/African-American Studies, American Indian Studies, History, Languages and Literatures and Women's Studies.

These related studies require departmental approval and must be related to your overall education plan.  Students who are admitted to the School of Art, but not to a BFA concentration through the portfolio review may be admitted to the art studies concentration.
